Okay, onto the latest review, one word, wow. How amazingly crazy was the ending on this episode?! I'll be the first to admit, that I didn't see Michael going on shooting spree the way he did.
So in a nutshell, we get Michael back. Now there is some debate between some of us IRL, on whether Michael was simply observing/spying on the Others, or was actually a prisoner of the Others. Someone told me today that Michael stumbled out of the jungle with a sack over his head, I don't remember that, and I deleted the episode from my DVR last night. Hmmm, maybe I'll check out ABC's free episode viewing later.
Theories abound regarding Michael, and why he shot Anna Lucia, personally I subscribe to the fact that he's drumming up support for an attack on the Others' camp. Perhaps during his conversation with Anna, he realized if she wasn't willing to kill the captured Other, then no one would ultimately be up to invading the Others' camp. I admit it's a bit extreme, but the Others' do have his son.
Someone else shared a theory with me today, that makes some sense in its own right, that perhaps Michael cut a deal with the Others to shoot Henry Gale and Anna Lucia in exchange for his son. The thinking being that that the Others wanted Anna dead because she was deemed dangerous to the Others because she had already killed one of them. Henry Gail said in earlier episodes that the Others were going to kill him anyway (though not sure why).
Let's see, what else happened in this episode...oh yeah, we got some more of Anna's back story (well the last of it anyway). Minor surprises being that she body-guarded for Jack's dad. Also that Anna and Jack's dad ran into Sawyer outside of the bar, where Jack's dad talks to Sawyer further. Oh yeah, and we find out that Jack has a sister, though we don't know her name or age. Actually Jack having a sister is a pretty major revelation, surely they dropped this bit of information for a reason....interesting, oh so very interesting.
I think that about covers the plot points that occurred during this episode. There is some debate as to whom is going to die and who is not. I came away from the episode thinking that Anna was dead, Libby was dead, and Henry Gail was probably going to bite the bullet as well. Technically though we only know that (or so it seems from previews) that Anna is going to die. There hasn't been any mention of Libby's death. But, in TV Guide's recent issue, it stated that the actor that portrays Libby has signed on with another show to premier in the Fall. So that pretty much determines his fate, right? Hmmm. I also assumed that Michael was going to go ahead and shoot Henry Gail, but then again that's an assumption. Someone suggested to me that he's merely going to end up letting Gail go, to make it look like Gail escaped.
I think that's pretty much all the plot points from this week's episode.
On another note, as I was fast forwarding through the commercials I noticed toward the end of the episode a commercial for the Hanso Foundation. It really was by chance that I caught it. Anyway, I re-winded and watched the commercial and it seemed relatively bland, meaning that it didn't seemingly contain any clues for the world of Lost. At the end of the commercial however a phone number was left on the screen at closing. The number was:
1-877-HANSORG (426-7674)
So my wife and I thought what the hey and decided to call the number. Well an hour later (after battling busy signals) we got through. In a nutshell we reached an automated message welcoming us to the Hanso Foundation. We were then presented with 5 options of extension of various Hanso executives we could reach. After picking an option you listen to some person talking in French (I think it was French anyway, and it was like background filler, but not music), then are contacted to that executive's voice mail, and depending on whom you get, you hear different messages. It took us an additional hour to hear all 5 voice mailboxes. I called the number back two days later, and was able to get right through on the 1st try and re-listen to all the messages within 10 or so minutes.
Anyway, there were some definite clues contained with the voice mails, but I don't think anything Earth shattering in terms of relating to the show. It was more or less like watching the 8mm film within the Hatch for the 1st time. Neat, but are there really any major clues contained within? I'll leave the clue deciphering of the phone call to the members here in case you haven't called the number yet.
Hmmm, I just checked another web site concerning Lost and it stated that:
"There are variations on what information you receive when calling so you may want to dial in more than once (it's free). The phone number gives a secret password that can be used at www.hansofoundation.org. When the password is used at the right place on the website, you will (after some exploring and logical reasoning) receive information about the origin of the virus that has been discussed in many episodes."
Nuts. I haven't been to the Hanso Foundation web site, I'm going to have to check it out tonight (I think I know what the password is). Cool-io. The other day I listened to the latest Official Lost Podcast and they mentioned a password of "the island is waiting", but I haven't had an opportunity to plug that in anywhere....hmmmm, guess I'll forgo 24 or Prison Break tonight...heh-heh.
I also saw on this other web site that, "this is the first episode to feature a clue for "The Lost Experience", a worldwide internet game experience based on the show." I'm unfamiliar with this game, how about anyone else?
In the realm of Lost there seems to be some discussion about whether the dog (Vincent) is a bearer of bad news for whom ever takes care of him (Walt, Shannon, Anna Lucia), what does this mean for Sawyer (whom fed the dog this past episode)? Sawyer: It's not a book, it's a manuscript. I'm about to be the first and only guy to find out who done it. I think I got it figured out. So cool your damn jets and walk around the coconut trees. I got like ten pages left.
